I’m fully known and loved by You / You won’t let go no matter what I do
What is love? What is it like to be loved? We cannot walk through life without being loved. Even if people fail, even if we forget to love oth- ers, our Creator’s love goes on. He created you in love and watches you with love. He knows everything about you and is not scared about the thoughts in your mind or the heartache that weighs in your heart. God sent His Son, Jesus, to be the ultimate sacrifice who conquered death and the grave so that we could have a genuine, growing relationship with Him. He wants us to do life with Him.
“You have searched me, Lord, and you know me. You know when I sit and when I rise; you perceive my thoughts from afar. You discern my going out and my lying down; you are familiar with all my ways. Before a word is on my tongue you, Lord, know it completely. You hem me in behind and before, and you lay your hand upon me. Such knowledge is too wonderful for me too lofty for me to attain.” Psalm 139:1-6 NIV
And it’s not one or the other / It’s hard truth and ridiculous grace
Love does hurt. I did not think pain and love could work together, but when parents discipline their children, it’s out of love to help them live better. When friends warn friends about the group they’re hanging out with, it should come out of the love to protect rather than jealously. When leaders or people in authority put rules to prevent confusion and chaos, this should be for the good of all and not personal gain. Loving others, serving others is not easy. When Jesus humbled Himself down to come to earth and grow through life and then endure the cross for us, He went through the worst pain and death. And yet when He rose again, He assured us that the same power that rose Him from the grave lives in us. (This Holy Spirit and God’s Word work together in perfect love for us. But they will not always give comfortable or pleasing words. Sometimes we need to hear the hard truth to understand His grace and love. That God sees the bigger picture and wants what is best for us.
“Our fathers on earth disciplined us for a short time in the way they thought was best. But God disciplines us to help us so that we can be holy like Him. We don’t enjoy discipline when we get it. It is painful. But later, after we have learned our lesson from it, we will enjoy the peace that comes from doing what is right.” Hebrews 12:10-11 ERV
For this love month, let me remind you that you are fully known and loved. It does not mean that you will have a perfect life, but it does mean that you are not alone as you walk through this life, and the God who created the universe and you, wants to have a personal relationship with you. It takes time, but it is not impossible. You are fully known and loved.
